So I joined a local photography club…
Last night I joined a local photography club…that’s right I turned off World of Warcrack, left the house, got out and socialized.
It was a rewarding experience. The speaker was Jacques Boissinot, a Canadian Press photographer. Jacques has had his images appear front page around the world in such publications as the Globe and Mail, etc.
It was fantastic. He showed us slide shows of his political coverage which he explains is about 70% of his work, and coverage of the Junior Hockey Championships in Sweden. Sports comprise about 20% of his work. He took time to explain how he sets up for these events, the gear and even some technical things such as what lenses, shutterspeeds, ISOs and file formats he shoots for various things and why.
I wish I could show you some of his work, but a Google search only brings up tons of press coverage with his images thrown in, so there were too many to show.
Our local club COPS (Central Okanagan Photographic Society) has continuous photo contests and themes to challenge its members. All entries are evaluated in the same manner as the national photographic awards are judged. I look forward to participating in this club….hopefully it will get me off my butt and get me out there shooting again.
The Burning Crusade
Well I picked up my copy of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade today…went into Future Shop at around 9 am before work and there was no line up, it was great. I am glad I didn’t camp the store or waste my time sitting in a line up at EB games at midnight.
So now I can still feed my addiction. I must admit however that I am not overly excited about the expansion, this I think is a good sign
When I got to work I checked my emails and discovered I had pre-ordered the game a few months ago…and it had been shipped today…ah well. I guess someone is going to get the xpac as a gift
